Are You Ready to Change Your Diet?

When I ask are you ready to change your diet I’m not talking about changing your dietary habits. I’m talking about changing your spiritual diet from milk to meat. For some have been on milk for too long and it’s time to grow up. As our Bible states in Hebrews 5:13-14 “For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. {14} But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.” Even in our dietary needs as babies there comes a time when you must start eating solid foods to sustain and provide your body with the nutrients for growth. It isn’t beneficial to stay on milk. The same is true for our spiritual diet we can’t grow to full age if we are still on milk.

I want to share some examples on what it looks like to be on milk and what it looks like to be on meat.

A believer that is on milk:

-Doesn’t read their Bible on their own they wait until Sunday for the Pastor to read it for them.

-Believes everything the Pastor tells them without checking it for themselves.

-Aren’t able to name or can barely name any Bible character or story.

-Easily influenced by false teachers/ false prophets and doctrines of devils because of the lack of discernment.

Clearly the Bible instructs that we need to study, in 2 Timothy 2:15 it states “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” In studying the Word of God for yourself you would be able to identify when you hear something that is not true, excercising discernment. There are many false teachers and prophets among us as it states in 2 Peter 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

A believer that is on meat:

-Seek the Kingdom of God (Matthew 6:33)

-Read their Bible daily (Matthew 4:4)

-Study to shew thyself approved

-They can identify false teachers/ false prophets and doctrines of devils

-Speak the truth without compromise

Of course changing one’s diet may be a struggle at first because it involves self control and determination. The self control in not being distracted as you open your Bible to study God’s Word. The determination to be like Christ and exemplify Him in your daily walk. It also involves the act of being unselfish with your time because it is His time after all. Remember you do have the Holy Spirit in you to help with all your struggles.

Spiritual growth is necessary for us to become all that God wants us to be. When you decide you want more out of your walk with God, you want more of Him, and you are not satisfied being on milk anymore because your body needs something that will fill you and that is the meat of the Word.

I’ll ask you again are you ready to change your diet?

*All scriptures are KJV only.

  1. Wow! This is very important for believers to see that they need to change their diets. It’s important because we must be prepared spiritually to be able to stand against the demonic forces that are in the world.
