(Reflection on Life)
As I was doing my daily reading from the Old Testament I just didn’t understand how the Israelites had witnessed numerous times the miraculous hand of God, yet still questioned/doubted Him. They witnessed His great power with the Exodus from Egypt and they forgot all about the “Let My People Go”, and the dividing of the Red Sea (Exodus 14:15-16) when they complained and murmured about the lack of food and water in the wilderness (Exodus 16:1-3; 12-15). In every one of their circumstances God showed them His power, he delivered and provided for them, yet when a new circumstance presented itself they forgot what God had done for them (Deuteronomy 1:31-38; 8:15-17).
It then dawned on me this is exactly what I do or a lot of us believers do when certain circumstances show up in our lives. It’s not that unbelievable how the children of Israel experienced God and still didn’t believe what He could do, questioned His power. It may be the most simple to the greatest trials we have ever had to face, no matter what we all seem to forget how powerful our God is just as the Israelites . As stated earlier, in my own life circumstances I have experienced, I have overlooked what God has told me and still dwelled on the circumstance as if He hasn’t delivered me from something prior. It’s like a never ending cycle that results in the realization that we must always put all of our trust in God.
The definition of trust according to King James Pure Bible Search Software is:
1. Confidence; a reliance or resting of the mind on the integrity, veracity, justice, friendship or other sound principle of another person. 2. He or that which is the ground of confidence.
Trusting God means you have confidence within Him, in His power. To know that no matter what new circumstance you face He will deliver you. Don’t be discouraged in the wait. I know it’s hard and frustrating having to wait, but God’s timing is perfect. I have to remind myself of this everyday, I have been waiting for something for 10 years and counting , yet I wait. Psalms 9:10 states, ” And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.” Isaiah 26:4 says to Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength and Jeremiah 17:7 says, “Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.” Stay encouraged.
Let’s not be like the Israelites who soon forgot His works and waited not for his counsel (Psalms 106:13). They forgot God their savior which had done great things in Egypt (Psalms 106:21).
