Sedimentation

I love turmeric tea for its many health benefits. If you didn’t know turmeric is a spice that has been used for thousands of years for many reasons, one being its anti-inflammatory properties. I can go on further of the many benefits of consuming turmeric but I’m not. This blog is actually about what I call “Lessons from the Mundane”, doing common ordinary things that lend lessons of life, so here comes the lesson. I was drinking turmeric tea and it constantly needed to be stirred because all of the turmeric powder settles at the bottom. This process is called sedimentation, when gravity pulls down the solid particles in a liquid. The heavier the particle the faster it will settle.

I then realized this can be a demonstration of our lives spiritually. Day to day life situations and struggles, let’s call it gravity, can have an effect on us and can cause us to become stagnant or comfortable. We can’t let the things of this world pull us down. We need to stay stirred up by daily praying, reading the Bible, and immersing ourselves in things that build up our Spirit. We are called to work for the Kingdom of God, to be fishers of men and live out the life He planned for us.
