Are You Good Ground?

In Matthew, Mark, and Luke Jesus spoke on the parable of the sower which gives an illustration on how the seed (the Word of God) is sown and whether it was fruitful or not. I want to focus on the seed that was sown on good ground. In the book of Mark the sower sowed the word (4:14 KJV) and they heard the word, received it, and brought forth fruit (4:20 KJV). This brings me to my question “Are You Good Ground”?

As we have read having good ground would illustrate someone who has heard, received, and is going out to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ to win souls (bringing forth fruit). Soul winning is a very important part of being a Bible believing Christian. Jesus told the disciples this very thing in Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, his whole ministry was about sharing the gospel. It seems as though alot of Christians forget or ignore this command of Jesus. Some make many excuses like ” I don’t know what to say”, “people don’t want to hear it”, “I’m too shy”, “that’s the Pastors job”, and probably the most used one “I’m scared”.

Jeremiah 1:7-9 gives us a great example for those with the excuse of not knowing what to say. (Jeremiah 1:7-9) “ΒΆ But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak. {8} Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD. {9} Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.” We also know we have the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us in all situations including winning someone to Christ. In regards to being fearful we know that it states in 2 Timothy 1:7; For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. For example, look at Moses when God told him to speak with Pharoah about letting His people go, he didn’t want to do it because he wasn’t an eloquent speaker. God assured him he would be with his mouth and teach him what to say, Moses still didn’t want to comply which made God very angry (Exodus 4:10-14). Every excuse given is not a valid excuse. When we are told to do something by God we ought to trust Him and obey. God told Moses He would help him, but Moses didn’t trust His word. He has already told us what to say in His word when going out to soul win.

I want to share some soul winning tips and scriptures for those that may need them. If you don’t have the books of the Bible memorized already do so. It will help when trying to show someone the scriptures in your Bible. Memorizing soul winning scriptures will be of great benefit when your Bible isn’t handy. Create a soul winning script, which is writing out the dialogue of what you will say and practice it on your family and friends. Below are some example scriptures that can be used for soul winning.

Soul Winning Scriptures:

John 3:16-18, Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, Rev. 21:8, Hebrews 10:12, Romans 10:9, Romans 10:13, 1 John 4:15, Luke 15:10, 2 Corinthians 5:17-18.

Remember! Proverbs 11:30 says; The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.
