You may think your life is so complete and accomplished with a check mark by all the things you have done, but John 10:10 says:

John 10:10 “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”

There is no life without Christ. In Ecclesiastes 2:1-11, Solomon wrote about all the things he had and accomplished, but realized it all was vanity. It meant absolutely nothing.

Ecclesiastes 2:1-11 “I said in mine heart, Go to now, I will prove thee with mirth, therefore enjoy pleasure: and, behold, this also is vanity. {2} I said of laughter, It is mad: and of mirth, What doeth it? {3} I sought in mine heart to give myself unto wine, yet acquainting mine heart with wisdom; and to lay hold on folly, till I might see what was that good for the sons of men, which they should do under the heaven all the days of their life. {4} I made me great works; I builded me houses; I planted me vineyards: {5} I made me gardens and orchards, and I planted trees in them of all kind of fruits: {6} I made me pools of water, to water therewith the wood that bringeth forth trees: {7} I got me servants and maidens, and had servants born in my house; also I had great possessions of great and small cattle above all that were in Jerusalem before me: {8} I gathered me also silver and gold, and the peculiar treasure of kings and of the provinces: I gat me men singers and women singers, and the delights of the sons of men, as musical instruments, and that of all sorts. {9} So I was great, and increased more than all that were before me in Jerusalem: also my wisdom remained with me. {10} And whatsoever mine eyes desired I kept not from them, I withheld not my heart from any joy; for my heart rejoiced in all my labour: and this was my portion of all my labour. {11} Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do: and, behold, all was vanity and vexation of spirit, and there was no profit under the sun.”

Mark 8:36 says, For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

Seek the Kingdom

Our life on this Earth is uncertain and the Bible is clear on this fact. It has been stated in the Bible that life is like a vapor (James 4:14), a shadow (Psalms 144:4) or even like grass (Psalms 103:15-16). We are told in Proverbs 27:1, Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.

Since we know life is uncertain and we don’t know if we will see tomorrow, our time should be used wisely (Proverbs 11:30; The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise).  Life shouldn’t be about seeking the pleasures of this world, it should be about seeking the kingdom of God and doing what is necessary to please Him. We were made for His pleasure (Revelation 4:11). Are you seeking the kingdom?  Or are you seeking the vain and temporal things of this world? I have always said to myself and to God that I don’t what my life to be a waste, if you’re not doing anything for Him that’s exactly what it is. Without Him we have no purpose.

We must do what is right in His eyes. Keep or start laboring for the Kingdom, it is all that matters (Philippians 2:16;  Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain). 1 Corinthians 15:58 states, Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
