Root Canal of the Heart

I’m sure we have all heard of the term root canal. If not, it is a dental procedure done by an endodontist, they treat the inside of the tooth. Inside the tooth, under the white enamel and a hard layer called the dentin, is a soft tissue called the pulp.  Inflammation or infection develops in the pulp, which can have a variety of causes like deep decay, a crack, a chip in the tooth, or an injury. A root canal is then needed to save the tooth.

If we look at the same concept, but apply it spiritually we can see how Jesus does a root canal of our heart. He gets inside through the hard layer and removes all the decay, cracks, and chips (pain, shame, suffering, sin). But in order for Jesus to do a root canal in your heart you must allow Him to come into your heart, as Romans 10:9 states.

Romans 10:9 – That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
