Are you in Debt?

Today in America debt is on the rise, the American household debt hit a record of 16.9 trillion at the end of 2022 according to consumer debt statistics. Although there are many financial strategies and steps to get out of debt the majority of Americans will die with their debt. There is also another type of debt that the majority of people can never pay off and that is spiritual debt. Dying with spiritual debt is damning.

2 Thessalonians 2:12 – That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Spiritual debt is our sin, we are all sinners (For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God, Romans 3:23). We have transgressed God’s law, and in response to this God has extended to us grace through his only begotten Son Jesus. Jesus gave his life to pay for our debt (sin). For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:23). As mentioned before there are many strategies to get out of financial debt, but with spiritual debt God’s only strategy is Jesus.

John 3:16-17 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.{17} For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.{18} He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

You must believe to be saved. Jesus gave His life for us to be saved.

Romans 10:9 – That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Let’s Recap:

1) It is great to be out of financial debt, but being out of financial debt does not compare to being out of spiritual debt.

2) If you die with your financial debt, your debt dies with you. If you die with your spiritual debt, you are damned and will reap the consequences of your sin. Hell.

3) If you are in spiritual debt today only God’s strategy will lead you to freedom.

The best part about being spiritually out of debt is you will never be in debt again. Jesus paid our debt in full. (For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified, Hebrews 10:14).

Thank you, JESUS!

Sedimentation

I love turmeric tea for its many health benefits. If you didn’t know turmeric is a spice that has been used for thousands of years for many reasons, one being its anti-inflammatory properties. I can go on further of the many benefits of consuming turmeric but I’m not. This blog is actually about what I call “Lessons from the Mundane”, doing common ordinary things that lend lessons of life, so here comes the lesson. I was drinking turmeric tea and it constantly needed to be stirred because all of the turmeric powder settles at the bottom. This process is called sedimentation, when gravity pulls down the solid particles in a liquid. The heavier the particle the faster it will settle.

I then realized this can be a demonstration of our lives spiritually. Day to day life situations and struggles, let’s call it gravity, can have an effect on us and can cause us to become stagnant or comfortable. We can’t let the things of this world pull us down. We need to stay stirred up by daily praying, reading the Bible, and immersing ourselves in things that build up our Spirit. We are called to work for the Kingdom of God, to be fishers of men and live out the life He planned for us.

Master Builder

As I watched the builders building a new home outside my window I was reminded of Psalms 127:1 which states, “Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.” The scripture made me think about our spiritual house that the LORD has built.

We know that building a physical house is a process that includes different stages. Our spiritual house also is a process and includes different stages. I wanted to focus on two of the stages in the process. First off you need a good foundation because without it how will the house stand. Our foundation is Jesus Christ as stated in Isaiah 28:16, Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste. Luke 6:47-48 states, Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:  {48} He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.”

The next step in building a house is the framing. Framing is fitting together the pieces to give a structure support and shape. Our spiritual house also is framed as stated in Ephesians 2:18-22, “For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.  {19} Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;  {20} And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;  {21} In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:  {22} In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.”

As a believer isn’t it great to know that the LORD has built our house (spiritual) and we know that the house the LORD builds is safe, protected, built to last, and can’t be destroyed.

If you are living life trying to build your own house (spiritual) in vain and trusting in yourself or other gods that don’t live, see, hear, or talk and would like the Master Builder, the only true living God, Jesus to build your house all you have to do as stated in Romans 10:9, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
